Hi Jerry-

The plan for the flag over the next year is conservation and then framing. While I travel to Mississippi every year, I live most of the time in Texas so that is where the flag will probably be over the next few years. My long term goal is to have a home somewhere between Natchez and Oxford so it might come home to Mississippi in the not so distant future.

And I know in the past people have posted requests for information on the 37th, and I'd like to ask anyone out there to let me know if they have put together a detailed history. While my library contains the popular books on Iuka, Corinth, Vicksburg (the Bearss set), I have been having fun with footnote.com looking through many documents relating to the regiment and Colonel Holland and S H Terrel of company C.

I also came across a nice document written by ancestors of James Thomas Brannan, a Sergeant in Co. C

What's interesting is that the battle honors on the flag are Vicksburg, Port Gibson, and Baker's Creek, but it has not been easy to find their role at Baker's.

However, reading the old hand written records, it was indeed a chilling moment when I read about the unit getting in position between Jackson and Graveyard roads.
