info on ancester

Looking for information on my great, great, great grandfather, George Washington Elias Brown. His age was 27 when he joined the CSA. In 1860 his residence was Greene County, MS. Supposedly he was a private in the 24th Regiment of the MS Infantry. According to some family sources, he was wounded severely at Shiloh. He was sent to the hospital at Mt. Vernon, AL - was supposedly discharged and died trying to get home. I know for a fact that he is buried in the Futch Cemetary (private) in Greene County, MS. The Futch family owned an inn at that time. My research shows that the 24th MS was never engaged at Shiloh. I have found some film on footnote.com but they are confusing. Any information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated and in exchange I will be more than glad to share any information that I may have with anyone. Repectfully submitted, William E. Brown, Jr.
