I am not sure what you mean by "if he was important" -- I am sure that he was important to someone! He's important to me for the mere fact that he fought and died for what he believed in. That being said, I highly recommend that you order his military service records through the red-bordered box above. Here is some partial info:

B.G. Walker, Private, Company H, 37th Mississippi Infantry Regiment (McLain's 37th)

Enlisted April 11, 1862, in Garlandsville, Mississippi, by Captain F.B. Loper for 3 years or the war.

Promoted from Private to Second Corporal on November 14, 1862.

Killed in action in the trenches at Vicksburg, Mississippi, July 1, 1863.

He was born in Newton County, Mississippi, and was 25 years old at the time of his death.

He was a 5-feet 10-inches tall farmer with a fair complexion and blue eyes.
