Thomas Sanders, Co C, 5th Regt, Mississippi State Troops (not the same as the 5th Mississippi Infantry Regt). This command is listed in Dunbar Rowland's History as Minutemen.

Co C was raised in Lauderdale County MS under Capt David Maggard. I don't find Thomas Sanders in that county. We would expect officers and men of this regiment to be older men or otherwise exempt from regular Confederate service.
