I know this thread is about 4 years old but I'm curious about the book that was being written and who in the family you spoke to Bruce. (Could have been me, it's been a while.) Colonel Robert Smith was my great-great-great uncle. Some of my family (including some cousins from England) were special guest at the Munfordville re-enactment in 1996 when there was a re-dedication of the monument there.
