One of my ancestors was Bloomington Goodwyn Tyson, Company I 5th US Volunteers, who joined from Camp Douglas in April 1864. This appears to be the unit Lt. Frederick Hubert commanded in June of 1865.
Tyson was captured at Rome Ga in October of 64 fighting under Capt. James D. Lynch 16th Cavalry, CSA.
I just got the book The Galvanized Yankees by Dee Brown and am seeking to verify Tyson's presence in Kansas in June of 66. For years I knew he survived the War, just did not know what happened after Battle for Jackson in 63 until recently.
