The flag definately existed. A photograph of it (circa 1905) does survive!
Documents at the MOC definately state that it was placed there in 1904
and withdrawn in 1908.
Does it still survive today??!! That is the question! If so, where is it and
who has it??
The flag was placed in the MOC by a Mrs. Belle Bushnell, a life-long UDC
member. She also placed the Price Type flag of the 39th Georgia at the
MOC and later gave it to the State of Georgia.
At the time of her loans to the MOC she was a resident of New York City.
Her last known residence was Charlottesville, Va. in 1928.
There are the clues!! I have followed them for near 30 years with no luck.
No further trace of Miss Bushnell or the Pointe Coupee Arty flag has come
to light.
A note on Batchelor; In April 1892 the Battery held a reunion in New Orleans.
Thirty-one members attended. Batchelor was NOT there. Nor, does he appear in Booth's Record of Louisiana Soldiers.
Is the flag worth pursuing?? If found, it would be a significant discovery.
In any event, it beats watching football!!
