The 1860 census shows Thomas J Overstreet, age 41, resident of Wayne County MS. I don't find any evidence that he was in military service during the war. He may have died during the war, but not as a result of being a Confederate soldier. Without evidence I generally don't trust anyone's family tree, not even my own.

According to the service record, Thomas J Overstreet, Co F, 16th Mississippi Regt, was age seventeen when enlisted. TJO was killed at Gaines Mill VA, June 27, 1862.

Thomas B Overstreet, age sixteen in 1860, enlisted in Co I, 36th Mississippi Regiment. He died at Columbus MS, Aug 5, 1862. Papers state that he was the son of Daniel Overstreet, of Newton County MS.

Thomas H Overstreet of Clark County enlisted in Co D, 7th Mississippi Battalion. He died in camp at Quitman MS, July 24, 1862. Afterwards his widow LeBriny (?) Overstreet filed a claim for pay due her deceased husband.

Thomas J Overstreet of Wayne County MS may have outlived all of these men.
