Eb's CSA brother ( Hampton Stewart), their CSA nephew (William Calvin Stewart) & their dad (Hiram) were buried at the Stewart-Cemetery in Pearl River Co., MS (north of Crossroads, MS). The CSA marker there for Serg.James Allen Stewart should read Stuart. He married Sarah Byrd of my dad's Byrd line. The Stuarts were in that area before the Stewarts who had the first burial there.
Cousins, friends and i are trying to compile a list of CSA veterans buried in Pearl River Co. for Jim Huffman of the Gainesville Volunteers SCV in Picayune. We are grateful to him, his & other SCV Camps for CSA memorial ceremonies at many cemeteries in the county.
www.findagrave.com and http://usgwarchives.net/ms/msphotos/ are good sources for MS grave locations & photos..
I had trouble finding an active AZ or reenactment link so that I could post info on the upcoming reenactment at Picacho Peak, AZ this weekend (an official Arizona Centennial event) and about the Scottsdale (AZ) Civil War Round Table's meeting on March 20, 2012 when John Waugh will speak on his book, "Lincoln & McClelland." See our website at http://www.angelfire.com/planet/scottsdalecwrt/ . Ed Bearss was wonderful in January.
Thanks to all of you for your responses, especially regarding mysterious "deserted" entries in the records,
Mary Anne Hammond
