Foster, Rev., Chaplain, 8th Mississippi Cavalry, appointed Chaplain January 24, 1864, not yet commissioned January 1, 1865, his record includes a letter from the Adjutant General, War Department, dated October 2, 1952, to Mrs. Nancy Thomson, 702 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona, which notes the above facts, no other records

Andrew J. Foster, Private, Company H, Orr's Regiment Mississippi Vols.*, enlisted March 13, 1862 at Peninon Springs, Miss. by LCol. Orr for 3 years or the war, wounded on picket at Loss [sic] Mountain, June 15/17, 1864, at home on sick furlough August, 1864 remaining so through February 25, 1865, no further records

* This company subsequently became Company H, 31st Regiment Mississippi Infantry.
