Re: John Mclain "Mclean" 24th MS Infantry

You might want to check the pension files to see if he applied, this should provide his end of service data.

John McLean [sic], age 22, Private, Capt. Henry Roberts' Countey (Gaines Warriors), Mississippi Volunteers,* enlisted August 22, 1861 in Greene County, Miss., by Capt. Roberts for the war, assigned to Signal Corps. as Guard April 23, 1863, wounded slightly in the head at Murfreesboro, Tenn, early in the action near Nolenaville Pike, December 28, 1862-January 4, 1863, last recorded present on the January & February, 1864 muster roll held at Dalton, Ga.**

* This company subsequently became Company A, 24th Regiment Mississippi Infantry

** This was the last surviving muster roll for the company which precludes us from ascertaining his subsequent service
