Oliver P. Lewellen, age 42, Private, Capt. Wm. H. H. Tison's Company, Mississippi Vols.,* enlisted May 26, 1861 at Baldmyre, Itamumba County, Miss. by Capt. Tison for the war, sick sent to hospital at Warrenton, Va. September 1861, detailed at Hospital, Richmond from October 1, 1861, appointed Nurse at Chimborazo Hospital No. 5, Richmond, Va. March 12, 1862, Debility, returned to duty March 6, 1864, recorded on the May & June, 1864 muster roll as absent, on wounded furlough, wounded May 12 [Spotsylvania Court House, VA], arm resected, admitted Howard's Grove Hospital, Richmond, September 18, 1864, furloughed September 23 for 60 days, recorded on the end of year 1864 muster as "retired," admitted Way Hospital, Meridian, Miss. February 14, 1865, Diarrh./wounded, subsequently furloughed n.d., among the army surrendered at Citronella, Ala. by LGen. R. Taylor May 4, 1865 and paroled at Meridian, Miss., May 13, 1863, resident of Tishomingo, Miss.
