Courtney, farther down in the thread is a short conversation about Confederate drummer boys, the conclusion from their research turns up no Confederate drummer boys. I have also done a little research on them, coming to the conclusion that if there were any, they were extremely rare.

I have concluded that unlike the North, the South was extremely affected by the number of men that had left to go to war, and teenaged boys were much more needed for labor back home. Also, young boys would have a very hard time surviving the extremely hard conditions that the average Confederate soldier had to tolerate. Also, Southern men, being very protective of women and children, surely did not want either on the battlefield.
