I am a volunteer at Fort Donelson National Battlefield and am working on a project for them to identify and document all of the soldiers on both sides that were present in the February 1862 battle. I have identified over 20,000 thus far.

I am having difficulty confirming the unit of Benjamin F. Ferguson of a Mississippi regiment. I have found several sources (including Confederate Veteran, IX, Feb 1901, page 65) showing he died in Clarksville, TN on 2/24/1862. Through all of my searches, I am amazed at the number of ways to spell "Ferguson".
