Rottenberry, Private, Company A, 33rd Regiment Mississippi Infantry, enlisted March 15, 1862 in Neshoba County by Captain Booth for 3 years, recorded absent at Granada Hosptial April 28, 1863 remaining absent through June, subsequently listed absent without leave from July 18 through October, present at the end of year 1863 muster, on sick furlough for 60 days from March 20, 1864, remaining absent through August, last recorded February 28, 1865 as absent sick since March, at home, no further records

The 33rd Regiment Mississippi Infantry was known for a short time after being organized as Hurst's Regiment Mississippi Infantry

Record of Events - Company A (Cumberland Guards)

Stationed near Granada, Mississippi, November-December 1862.
Stationed at Edwards Depot, January-February 1863.
Stationed at Grenada, March-April 1863.
Stationed at Morton, Mississippi, May-August 1863.
Stationed at Canton, Mississippi, September-December 1863.
Stationed at Monticello, Alabama, March-April 1864.
This company, A, Thirty-third Mississippi Regiment, has
been on the march since last muster.

April 3-8.— Marched from Demopolis, Alabama to Montevallo,
Alabama, distance seventy miles. Marched six days.

Stationed at Atlanta, July-August 1864.
Since last muster the company has been in one regular en-
gagement. Two commissioned officers and ten men have been
wounded and sent to the hospital. One commissioned officer and
three men missing. Portion of the company has been on the skir-
mish every day except five. Have marched twenty-five or thirty
miles. Have acted with gallantry while in front of the enemy.
One commissioned officer has resigned.
