If anyone has any knowledge of photographs or effects of Sergeant John Oliver Jinkins, Co. G, 26th Mississippi Infantry, please let me know. He was also temporarily assigned to Co. K, 32nd Mississippi after the fall of Fort Donelson (he evaded capture with Nathan Bedford Forrest, and was assigned temporary sergeant, training new troops for Co. K of the 32nd, until the 26th was repatriated in a prisoner swap. At that point, General Bragg issued orders transferring him back to the 26th). He was later permanently promoted to sergeant. Wounded at the Wilderness, but was up and fighting again 4 days later. He was captured 1 April 1865 at Hatcher's Run (yep, 1 week before Lee surrendered), and was held at the Point Lookout (Maryland) Yankee POW camp until 26 August 1865. Seems the Yankees had some problems getting him to sign his Loyalty Oath, so they starved him almost to death before he signed.

I just located his grave, about 10 miles north of Burnet, Texas, in a cemetery miles from the nearest actual road or building. My SCV Camp is planning a grave dedication ceremony, but I have no pics or effects of his. Regarding pics, I'd be glad to even get copies made of the originals and let the owner have the originals.
