Many thanks to Mr. Bryant for info re 20th Miss. Is the H Grady Howell publication available? Does it include actual listings of soldiers? I have records of Charles T Howell (my grfather), Issac E, Thomas Jefferson, and William as being enrolled in 39th Miss Inf (Co C) but also found Pension App for Thomas Jefferson indicating he was severely wounded at Pine Mountain--suggesting membership in 20th Miss. They were all from Scott Co and I am working on the notion that perhaps the 20th was absorbed into 39th or vice versa at some point. I can track Charles T, Issac E, and Thomas J to their final resting places but I suspect that William was either killed in action or died from disease as I can find no other info on him anywhere. Any thoughts on how to go at this would be appreciated.
