He died of disease (date not stated)

Ira French, Private, born in Alabama, Company A, 7th Battalion Mississippi Vols., enlisted May 10, 1862 in Jasper County by J. B. Pardue for 3 years or the war, recorded absent, sick in hospital August 31, 1862 remaining absent through October, present at the end of year muster, recorded on the Jan/Feb, 1863 muster as absent, sick, died March 1, 1863 at the 1st Louisiana Hospital, Brookhaven, Miss., Erysipelas, leaving a wife and 3 children, amount of money left, $63.60, his widow Ninny [sp?]/Winney filed claim for settlement of his accounts signing with an 'X', her mark April 22, 1863 in Jasper County
