He is shown as one of the early enlistees in the Jeff Davis Sharpshooters, being mustered into state service May 4, 1861, prior to the regiment being accepted for Confederate service. The last card in his file notes that he was wounded in battle in front of Atlanta, July 28, 1864, and sent to hospital. No further information. You can order his records here:
