Good afternoon from Medina,Texas:
A maternal cousin forwarded your e-mail of 2007 to my attention in regards to Jesse C. Woodard of the Burnsville Blues,
Company E, 17th MS Infantry Regiment. I am a great-grandson to Jesse C. Woodard as my father was orphaned due to
(??) causes such as the civil war and one of my great uncles plus an uncle brought some of my uncles to Overton,Texas
after jesse and his first wife (Sarah Parton/Partin) passed away. Jesse first hired, then remarried a teenage girl (Martha Canfield)
to look after his children upon muster of the Burnville Blues; she obviously was unable to care for or cope with the children
and local Woodward relatives took over this duty; this is where we have lost "touch" with whichever son of Jesse is my
grandfather as we don't know which one stayed in Missisippi. My grandmothers' name (reportably) was Sarah jones-
Carpenter who was a sister to Mary Jones Carpenter, wife of Thomas Carpenter who brought my father and his older
sister (Lena) to Texas ( ages five and seven) to live in the little settlement of Dumont,Texas.
Hope that you receive this message,
Roy E. Woodward
son of Samuel Oscar (later changed to LEE) Woodward who was born in 1876
Grandson of --------Woodward and Sarah Jones-Woodward (both positively unknown)
Great Grandson of Jesse C. Woodard
