An 1867 Jackson, MS, CSA burial list

For anyone who might be interested, here is an 1867 list of CSA soldiers who were buried in Jackson, Mississippi, cemeteries. I greatly regret that no cemetery names were mentioned in the newspaper article.

The importance of this list is that the graves were still marked by wooden headboards. If the board was not replaced by a permanent stone, the name on the grave may have been lost.

I have checked some random names against fold3. These men died in Jackson hospitals from disease as well as from wounds received in battles in Vicksburg, Port Gibson, and elsewhere.
