Major R. J. Durr also served as commanding officer of the 1st Confederate Veterans Infantry (Wier’s); Aka 1st Confederate Reserve Corps of Veterans; 1st Regiment Consolidated Veterans (Wier’s)

This unit was victorious in the fighting along the Mobile & Ohio RR south of Egypt Station in December 28, 1864. I have aan article drafted about the action and a history of the Consolidated unit that I discovered while researching the letters of Edward M. Riley of Co. A 39th Miss. Wiley Sword and I corresponded about the events and the letters because he had an article in process for a magazine just prior to his passing away. I am not sure if his article was ever completed. He was writing about opinions of soldiers about the debacle in Middle Tennessee in November and December of 1864.
