Dennis - an addendum to your excellent research regarding Harris: My great-great grandfather, Hardeman Carroll Simmons, Pvt. Co. K, 5th Mississippi Cavalry, lost his wife, my great-great grandmother, Caroline Hines Simmons, sometime during the last year of the war. My great grandfather, William Beauregard Simmons, was the only surviving child of that marriage. On 5 November 1865, he married the widow Frances Ursula "Fannie" Lindley Harris in DeSoto County. On 12 March 1866, Frances U Simmons and H C Simmons were named administrators of the estate of M M Harris, deceased, by the Probate Court of Tunica County. Hardeman and Fannie had seven children.
