Excellent!! More than likely he was wounded in one of the battles near Dalton, and then transported by rail to one of five Confederate hospitals operating at the time in LaGrange. The medical director of hospitals, Army of Tennessee, was Samuel H. Stout. His papers, including hospital records for those facilities in LaGrange, are held in the Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas, Austin. Copies of those records pertaining to the hospitals in LaGrange are held by the Troup County Archives. They offer research assistance:
