Thanks for the further pension background. William J. James b. 1844 had an older brother Joseph James b. 1836. He married Mary Ann Ridge June 6, 1864 Davidson County TN. On FindAGrave site it says "A Civil War veteran his pension records indicate he was a blacksmith." I assume he fought for the Union but not certain. William J. had a son, my grandfather Houston James Sr...he too was a blacksmith, lived a lot of his life in Nashville...fought in the Spanish American War, was noted as an artificer...was in artillery. Thanks
