I don't have a clue if my gg grandfather or great grandfather served in the Civil War.

Great great grandfather:
Joseph James b. 1810, wife Rachael 1850 Census lives in Franklin County District 11
1870 Census District 22 Maury County (lived one dwelling done from my great grandfather William J. James)

Great grandfather:
William J. James b. 1844, wife Missouri Ellen Rains (they marry 1869)
1870 Census District 22 Maury County
1870 Census District 11 Williamson County
