11th Miss. Flag at Hatcher's Run (2 Apr. 1865)

In collaborating with another researcher who's working on the 11th WV (Federal) infantry and the 2 April, 1865 Petersburg breakthrough, in an e-mail exchange he informed me that the last set of colors of the 11th MS were captured in the trenches by the 123rd Ohio Infantry, as documented in the capture file at the Museum of the Confederacy. I seem to remember reading (maybe in Stephen Stubb's regimental history that I don't have access to at the present time) that the 11th's flag was torn up and the staff thrown into Hatcher's Run before surrendering. Does anyone here know for sure which is correct and can point me to a citation? I have obviously been concentrating on the 2nd MS, so I am not as familiar with what happened to the 11th MS that day.

Thanks!

Mike
