Jos. Davis' Mississippi Legion

Does anybody have any info on this unit?

This is NOT the same unit as the Jeff Davis Legion that served with the ANV, but a unit proposed to be raised by Joseph R. Davis in 1862.

The American Citizen newspaper for 29 March 1862 refers to the Legion being called the "President's Guard" and intended to comprise eight companies of infantry, six of cavalry and four of light artillery. CSR mentions that George Ward's Madison Light Artillery was assigned to the unit and that it appears on muster rolls for the Legion from May-August 1862. Contemporary Mississippi newspapers also confirm the link. I suspect it was never formally organized, but I wonder if there might be some info out there that provides more information?
