This may be your man: G.B. Jackson, Pvt. enlisted on Aug. 1, 1862, for three years, in Co. I, 1st Mississippi Partisan Rangers. He was enlisted at Ripley by Col. W C Falkner, great grandfather of William Faulkner. He only appears on one muster roll, Aug. 1 - Oct. 31, 1862. This unit was disbanded Nov. 15, 1862, reorganized March 1, 1863, and designated the 7th Regiment Mississippi Cavalry on Aug. 1,1864. I did not find further reference to this man after Oct. 31, 1862. I could not find an application for the headstone.
