Was it common for individual companies of a reg't. to also have a flag? I recall reading or hearing that The Flag of
Co. K of the 11th MS hung on the wall of the Carroll Co. Sheriff's office until it went missing in the 1950's or 60's. Being hung in the sheriff's office makes sense as one of her Captains, Capt. George W. Bird (KIA July 3, 1863) was sheriff of Carroll Co before the war. Someone who survived the war must have brought it home.
