Dr. Jonathan Whitley Hemphill

My gg grandfather, Andrew Jackson Hemphill, server in the 31st Miss Regiment. He died at home on 22 Sept., 1863 while on medical leave and is buried in Ackerman. I have a copy of his leave/discharge papers but can't find them. They were signed by a Dr. Hemphill.

A. J. had an older brother, Dr. Jonathan Whitley Hemphill, born in 1825. The papers were signed at Camp Abbeville, which was just north of Oxford.

Can anyone tell me if Dr. Jonathan W. served in the 31st or another unit at or near Camp Abbeville in 1863?

Thanks, Ed
