A little more information about this family:

Mary Martin Hughston McGaugh lived with her daughter and son-in-law apparently for a number of years:

Census of 1850:
John W. Clanton and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hughston, are living with Mary’s mother and stepfather, Thomas and Mary McGaugh, in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Mary’s brother, William Hughston, is also living with them.

Census of 1860:
John W. Clanton and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, are living in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Mary’s mother, Mary McGaugh, is living with them.

They moved to Mississippi sometime between 25 Jul 1860 and 5 Mar 1862.

Census of 1870:
John W. Clanton and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, are living in Desoto County, Mississippi, Arkabutla Post Office. Mary’s mother, Mary McGaugh, is living with them, and Robert E. Clanton is living with them.

John W. Clanton dies 14 Nov 1876.
Mary Hughston McGaugh dies 31 Jul 1877.

Census of 1880:
Mary Elizabeth Clanton, a widow, is living with her brother, Sanford Hughston, in Choctaw County, Mississippi at French Camp. Mary Clanton is identified on this census as the sister of Sanford Hughston.

Mary Elizabeth Hughston Clanton dies 21 Feb 1898.
