Dalton/Daulton, Private, Company D, 37th Regiment Mississippi Infantry, enlisted May 5, 1862, listed as a casualty in Herbert's Brigade at the siege of Vicksburg, no date given, severely, wounded in trenches, captured at Vicksburg July 4, 1863, paroled July 13/15? while in Gen'l Hospital No. 2, Vicksburg, died from wounds July 30, 1863

I suspect Pvt. Dalton was wounded June 15 or later during Ranson's approach in the NW section area of the siege line. See attachment:

I would also suspect that he was buried in the nearby City Cemetery and his origijal grave marker weathered away and never recovered.
