Hi George.
The figure I quoted was typical of Confederate regimental strengths during 1863. At Chickamauga the average strength of a regiment was 330, at Gettysburg 345. Most exact regimental strengths can be determined when consulting the Service Records (available on Fold3).These contain QM records which give Regimental strengths on set dates for ration purposes.
