This is an old thread, and it may be that no one is interested anymore, but Capt. J.S. Tatom (Tatum) was from Bladen County, NC, and is the brother of my 3G grandfather, Richard W. Tatom. He moved to Mississippi in the late 1850s, following an uncle who had gone to SW Alabama in the 1840s. He lost 3 or 4 other brothers in the War. I have more information if anyone is interested.
