William Braden-Confederate Civil War

I am looking for information on William Braden, 3rd Battalion, MS Infantry, Co I. I believe this is my GG grandfather, b. 1828-1830 in St. Clair County, AL. He married Amanda Elizabeth Holiday 17 Dec 1857 in Itawamba Cty. MS The 1860 census confirmed their residence in Pontotoc Cty, MS.

According to the three cards I found on Fold 3, William enlisted 27 Dec 1861 in Florence, AL. His Muster Roll for 16 Apr through 30 Jun 1962 listed him as absent at General Hospital. His Muster Roll for Jul and Aug 1962 listed him as absent-sick. I can't find any other information on him. I know this 3rd Battalion was consolidated and changed many times and might have been part of the AL 27th Infantry. He may have also been with Hardcastle's Co. B (Insurgents) at some point. Needless to say, I am very frustrated as I can't follow any progression on this man. I'm trying to determine if William died in the war or if he just decided not to return home to his wife and young son. My cousin was adamant that William fought at the Battle of Chickamauga and died there 22 Sep 1863, but he had no documentation and I can't find anything either.

I know those old records can be sketchy, and any information you can find would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!
