Seeking a Caswell Co. Civil War soldier

Hello,
I hope this is a board about ancestors because I'm trying to find out about my great-great-grand-daddy who lived in Caswell County, and went off to fight in the Civil War, and came back home.

His name was James Madison Scott. He was about 46 years old in 1861. He had a wife (Cynthia) and kids on a farm. His son Jimmy (James Jefferson Scott) b. 1851 was left to manage a neighbors farm during the war. That farm was on County/or/Country Line Creek near Milton.
Does anyone have anything at all about James Madison Scott, where he had his farm, his service in the War, or even who his parents were?

Thank you for helping me and have a greatly blessed day.
