I'm curious what exactly this means ?

It appears in the comments section of the "Apl 30 to Oct 31, 1862" "Company Muster Roll" copy in the CMSR (of my GGGrandfather) I just received.

He was 2nd Battalion NC Infantry. I'm guessing it's related to him being a POW after Roanoke Island.
