Re: 20th NC Infantry; Still time to add info to ro

What information have you come across on any Rainer, Rayner, Raynor, Rainor, Raner, Ranor surnames in the 20th NC?

My ggreat grand uncle Francis Rainer and my ggreat grandfather William David Raynor both of Sampson Co, NC were in this regiment. William D. Rainer of Wayne Co, NC shown to enlist in this regiment at age 18 born in 1843 was my first cousin four times removed. Frank Rainer above was injured very badly at Gettysburg and was a POW until the end of the war but I do not know in which prison. I have found information to place My ggreat grandfather W. D. Raynor later in the 17th NC.

Also my great grandfather Lewis James Rich of Magnolia, NC was in the Duplin Rifles.

Thanks for your help.
