James T. Painter was a private and a member of the 25th North Carolina Infantry, Company "B".

Enlistment Date: 30 May 1861
Service Record:
Enlisted as a Private on 30 May 1861 at the age of 23.
Enlisted in Company B, 25th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 30 May 1861.
Promoted to Full Musician (Fifer) on 15 Aug 1863.
Promoted to Full Private (Reduced to ranks) on 1 Dec 1863.
Deserted from Company B, 25th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 12 Dec 1864. (Sent home on furlough. Did not return.)

I did not find a North Carolina Confederate Pension Application file for this man.

Oliver Painter was also a member of this unit. Both have Compiled Military Service Records, which can be ordered through the link below.
