James Whitted, Orange County Guards

Searching for military record of James Whitted.

His grandson, J. W. Witherspoon, submitted an application to the Col. D. H. Lee Martz Camp, # 10, Harrisonburg VA, Sons of Confederate Veterans on 9 February 1925. In this application J. W. noted that he was born 9 February 1899 in Greensboro NC and in 1925 was a Presbyterian Minister in Harrisonburg VA.
J. W. noted that James Whitted was born in June 1837 in Hillsboro NC and in 1925 was living in Greensboro NC. J. W. noted James enlisted in Hillsboro NC as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Orange County Guards. J. W. also noted all service was in this unit and that James rose to the ranks of 1st Lieutenant to Captain.

Any information concerning James Whitted's military record would be most appreciated.
