Am looking for information regarding William Edmond Hughes, a POW at the Salisbury Prison. Union? or Civilian prisoner?
William signed a oath of neutrality in 1864, and went to work in a CS Government run sawmill. He stayed in the area after the war, Married Rachael Elizabeth Howerton (dau. of a NC Confederate Soldier James Henry Howerton)and raised a family. Died & is buried in one of the local cemetery's.
