Re: 27th North Carolina Infantry

Arcell Sawyer .... Hannah Powell here ..... my email address for you keeps bouncing back .... I'm trying to send you a notation I made during one of my theories that our South Carolina SAWYERS are the same as those in NC Sampson County and northward into the Tidewater Counties of NC & SE Virginia.

In the 1740's when we see them appearing in the Onslow Bay area ... there is a sort of war going on between King George and the Spanish King ...

1740 - King George calls for NC men to help punish Spain for insults to English captains such as Captain Jenkins of Pasquotank. These volunteers served
from the tide water counties southward to Capt Fear and New Hanover County. Our Powells may have come southward this way .

Volunteer soldiers of the King moved up and down between the Tidewater Counties and Cape Fear. At Cape Fear King George started shipping many of the soldiers off to other missions. Very few of them ever returned ......
Send me an email so I can get yours again.....
