Re: 32nd North Carolina,Company E

Thanks for taking the time. This is all very confusing, though.

Our "famly records" indicate that William Hampton Hyder joined the 16th Regiment, Co. D in 1861 and that he also served with the 50th Regiment, Co. I; that he applied for and was granted a pension through the Clerk of Court of Catawba County June 25, 1910; and that he served under Capt. Champion T.N. Davis for whom he named one of his sons (Champion Davis Hyder, my GGrandfather).

But I cannot verify that information.

The website for the Catwba SCV shows William Hyder as being in the 32nd, Co. E and buried at St. Stephens Lutheran Church.

Well, that is my William Hyder (buried at St Stephens, unless there are two buried there) but the rest has me baffled.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, again!
