I do not find a Daniel M. Barringer in CW Confederate rosters, but I did find one who could be a brother or cousin.

Barringer, 44 year-old Farmer from Cabarrus County, North Carolina, volunteered and enlisted as a Private on August 13,1863 at Alexandriaua, Mecklenburg, North Carolina into Company K, 56th North Carolina Infantry, wounded in trenches at Globe Tavern, near Petersburg, Virginia August 21, 1864, admitted Receiving and Wayside Hospital , Richmond, Virginia August 22, 1864, transferred the next day to Winder Hospital, discharged from General Hospital Camp Winder, Richmond, Va August 29,1864 where he was issued furlough and departed for Concord,
N. C., died at home September 28, 1864 of his wounds [typhoid fever possibly] at Cabarrus County, NC
