In preparation for the 2nd edition of my book, ALSO FOR GLORY: The Pettigrew-Trimble Charge at Gettysburg, I have prepared state maps showing the county of origin for each of the 23 regiments in that assault. Mississippi and Tennessee regiments seem to come from counties that are close together (in a cluster) wheras North Carolina regiments seem to come from all over the state.
Anyone have a theory why this is the case? - I can send copies to individuals interested in any of the 15 NC regiments.
