John C Dry, Co H, 57th NC

I'm trying to find what happened to John C. Dry who was a Private in Co. H, 57th NC. His service records show he was captured at Rappahannock Station on 7 Nov 1863. His next service record is where his widow is on a NC Register of Claims of Deceased Officers and Soldiers dated 13 Jan 1864.

It's my understanding that all soldiers captured at Rappahannock Station were sent to Point Lookout, except for the officers. If John Dry was already deceased by 13 Jan 1864, is it likely that he died at Point Lookout? They weren't exchanging privates at that time, were they?

I looked at the roster of soldiers who died while at Point Lookout, but didn't see John Dry's name. However, I've heard Patricia Buck say that they do not have a complete record of all the deaths that occurred there.

Anyone have any other suggesions?

Thanks.
