Alan,

I realize this is an old post but I have to say that Glenn has done a marvelous job bringing to light hundreds of flags that are otherwise stored in obscurity and will be gone or forgotten in another hundred of years. People just don't realize the amount of time (and money) it takes for the research, obtain the rights for photographs and do the actual graphic production and so on. Glenn has just finished his fifth book. Are all his books perfect? Maybe not. (My great-great-grandfather's flag, the 51st NCST is actually a 5th bunting, not 4th ANV issue. Sorry Glenn). But I have received many hours of pleasure thumbing through his state flag books. To me they are worth every dollar. Concerning the experts, Howard Michael Madaus, the premiere Confederate flag authority was working on a book of the flags of the Army of Northern Virginia that was to be released in 1976. Unfortunately, Mr. Madaus passed away last year. Hopefully, someone will pickup the project and we may yet see it in our life time.
