Little Berry Horne of Columbus County, North Carolina, probably died before the 1870 census was taken. The census did not list marital status. His wife Kitsey Ann Nobles was head of household. On the 1880 census Kitsey was listed as widowed. I have not found Kitsey on the 1900 census. In 1901 Kitsey applied for a widows pension to the state of North Carolina. A copy of the application can be requested from the NC State Archives.

Little Berry Horne's wife was Kitsey Ann Nobles, born about 1831 Columbus County, NC, died 31 Jan 1917, Williams Township, Columbus County, NC, probably buried in Horne Cemetery, Rough-N-Ready Road (State Road 1004), Columbus County, NC. Kitsey was the daughter of Joseph Nobles and Sarah Edwards. She was one of eleven children, 9 boys and 2 girls. All of her brothers, her husband, and the husband of her sister, served in the Confederate States Army. On the 1910 census Kitsey was in the household of her eldest daughter Zilpha Ann and John F. Simmons, Williams Township, Columbus County, NC. Kitsey was the mother of 4 children, 2 living, on the 1910 census.
