I thought you might like to see a photo of the flag that your ancestor served under in the terrible fight at Williamsburg. The flag was captured and through an odd series of changes wound up in the Old State House Museum in Little Rock as an unidentified flag. A historian, Thomas L. McMahon, tracked it down and correctly identified it as the flag of the 5th N.C. The flag was returned to N.C. in July 2002.
